1. 'the Company' signifies 'Southampton Skip Hire’ and/or persons acting on their behalf, the 'Hirer' signifies any Person(s), Firm, Company, Business and/or persons acting on their behalf who are Hiring the skip from The Company.
2. These conditions should be read and accepted before placing an order. Accepting delivery of a skip indicates a complete and binding acceptance of these terms and conditions. The Company may without prior notice collect the skip at any time should any Hire Term or Condition be breached.
3. A signature is not required upon any documentation as proof of delivery or collection of skips or goods, however all Hire Terms and Conditions still apply.
4. GUARDING/LIGHTING: The Hirer is at all times responsible for the safe guarding & lighting of the skip, The Company must be informed immediately should any Cones, Lamps or Reflective Markers supplied with the skip be found to be damaged, removed or unserviceable, so that they may be replaced. The Hirer must at all times take all reasonable precautions to guard the skip.
5. PAYMENTS & CHARGES: Unless the Company has agreed prior arrangements in writing, All due charges must be paid either before or upon delivery of the skip. Any costs incurred in collecting moneys owed to The Company will be charged to the Hirer. To cover administration costs A SURCHARGE OF £10.00 PER SKIP is added to all skips not paid for upon delivery. Where account facilities have been granted our payment terms are strictly thirty days net after the Invoice Date. The Company reserves the right to charge interest on overdue amounts at 8% pa from the Invoice Date.
6. THE FOLLOWING MUST NOT BE PLACED IN THE SKIPS: Asbestos, Tyres, Liquid Containers/Drums/Barrels/Cartons (even if empty), Liquids, Liquid Paint, Lead Acid/Vehicle Batteries, Gas Cylinders, plasterboard (unless by prior arrangement), Fridges/Freezers, Commercial Computer Monitors/Fluorescent Tubes, Any form of Special, Difficult or Hazardous Waste. IF IN DOUBT PLEASE ASK!
7. SAFE LOADING OF SKIPS: The contents of the skip should be level to the top of the skip. The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that at all times the skip is loaded safely and that the area around the skip is kept safe and tidy. Should the skip be found to be overloaded it is the Hirer's responsibility to correct the situation before the skip can be removed. However the Company reserves the right to remove any objects that it feels may jeopardise the safe transportation of the skip. Any extra costs incurred in removing, transporting or disposing of the contents of the skip will be charged to the Hirer. Any skip containing asbestos fluorescent tubes, paint, tyres, batteries, fridges, freezers, or any other waste which is classed as hazardous will be removed and disposed of at the hirers expense.

8. FIRES & DAMAGE TO SKIPS: The lighting of fires in or near to skips is strictly prohibited. The Hirer is responsible for any damage to skips whatsoever or howsoever caused and the Company will be entitled to recover such additional costs and reimbursement for damages.
9. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY: Skip lorries require access of at least 3.10m wide, 3.90m high, an access and site surface capable of withstanding 18.00 tonnes and a safe and adequate turning / manoeuvring / working area. Should the access and site surface criteria be less than above, the Hirer must accept responsibility for any damage howsoever caused.
10. POSITIONING OF SKIPS: A skip must not be moved without prior permission from the Company, the Hirer must accept responsibility for any damage or extra costs incurred due to the skip being moved.
11. Unless the Company has been instructed otherwise, where it is not possible to site the skip off the public highway, we will (if permission is granted by the Local Authority), site the skip on the highway and charge the Hirer accordingly. The charge for this permission is between £20.00 and £45.00. When permission has been granted to place a skip on the highway then section 32 of the Highway Act 1971 will apply.
12. HIRE PERIODS: Are for 7 days unless otherwise agreed by the Company, delivery day rules as day one. An excess charge is applied to all skips hired over the shown hire period. All terms and conditions apply until the skip has been paid for and collected. The skip will normally be collected within two working days after the hire period has elapsed. The Company reserves the right to collect a fully loaded skip before the hire period has elapsed. 48 hours notice is required for collection of the skip.
